Skills, Scrimmages & Team – what’s new at Phoenix this Spring

There are so many exciting things happening with our Phoenix Elite field hockey programs – and SO many ways to get your athlete, regardless of skill level – involved with THE only field hockey training and competition organization based in Ocean County, New Jersey.

Spring 1 Skills & Scrimmages Training is in full swing for both our U-19’s and U-14’s. However, Spring 2 Skills & Scrimmages is right around the corner – beginning Monday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 12, respectively. Both age groups will training from 6 to 7:30 p.m. – affording the players 60 minutes of skill & strategies training session work – and the 30 minutes of instructional scrimmaging.

Additionally our U-10 Foundations & FUNdamentals will also take place on Wednesday evenings beginning May 12 from 6-7 p.m. This program is perfect for beginning athletes ages five-to-10 as they will learn the basic skills of the game through fun activities to keep the athletes engaged.

New for Spring is our 6 vs 6 Saturday Competition League for players 14 to 18 years of age. Athletes can put together a roster of six-to-10 players – whether teammates or friends – to play Saturday mornings form 10 to 11 a.m. beginning May 22.

Please note that for ALL programs, we will not be holding sessions or league Memorial Day Weekend (including Monday).

League spots are filling up, register your team NOW.

Lastly, you may have heard about our new Elite Select U-19 Team. The team, which will represent Phoenix at a May 23 Delaware Sharks Tournament in New Castle, DE, was selected over the course of the last four months based on commitment, attitude and participation in our programs.

Going forward, we hope to form additional teams in all age groups as these criteria allow. Our feeling is we would rather grow and develop our own Phoenix Elite athletes than have ‘tryouts’ with outside players coming in without ever having completed a program with us. We feel this would be a disservice to our athletes and families that continually train with us.

Therefore, if your athlete has a desire to develop, elevate their skills and play in a challenging yet welcoming environment, don’t hesitate to register them for Spring Session 2 Training and/or Competition League.

The mission of Phoenix Elite is to change the culture of field hockey here in Ocean County so our athletes continue to develop and compete against other athletes across New Jersey and outside the state. Of course we welcome – with open arms – athletes and players from other areas!!!

We hope to see you on the turf!
